The whole story revolves around 4 persons-

1.Ananya who is a successful author, a loving wife and the world’s best mom who discover writing is a medicine to her soul.

2.Nishith (a doctor) who is Ananya’s husband,

3.Olivia who is Ananya’s and Nishith’s daughter.

4.Varsha who is a cousin of Ananya.

Ananya was an orphan and had never seen her parents, but she found her parents in NISHITH’’S and for whom she could sacrifice her own happiness, without complaining.

The Hidden Letters by Purba Chakraborty is a reflection of today’s strong women.

A simple story, beautifully crafted around an interesting plot with easy relatable and very balanced characters with an inspiring ending.

Ananya is horrified by the nightmares of 'sins' she had committed in the past. Ananya’s truth was hidden to everyone except her own self. A truth that had become too heavy to bear alone after meeting Varsha by chance,

Ananya knew very well that the truth which she had hidden was so dangerous that it could destroy every relation she held close.

Ananya wrote- “I am human and I have made mistakes; but that does not mean I am bad at heart, I have tried to be a good wife and a good mother all my life, but may be have ended up being a selfish woman to reach here”

With this note in the chapter number 3 – A SILENT STORM, Ananya went 24yrs back in time, to the day when she had first met Nishith at Varsha’s house.

Story runs at two time periods: present and flashback. At the present time, protagonists are happily married, and flashback deals with their courtship & relationship building phase.

I personally admire how she unfolds the emotions of a wife who sees reflections of her past in her future, a husband who sees effects of his past in his present, a teen age girl child who learns her parent’s past in order to secure her future and a family friend, who becomes the connecting link between the past, present and future lives of this family, who feels guilty and responsible for some another’s life.

✔️Everything changes: situation, people, time, place and feelings too. There is no solution in complaining, but rather it is wise to accept the changes occurring around us and within us. When life keeps no other options for us, it’s better to move on.

Language used is simple and this story has direct dialogues

You will enjoy reading about the insecurity of wife, adamant nature of husband, worries of a child whose parents are way apart, and concern of a friend who cannot bear the pain of his friend.

This is undoubtedly one of the best Indian fiction I have read.
