35 SHADES OF LOVE- THE HEART HUM ITS OWN SONG

When a person falls in love, his heart becomes an orchestra of emotions which churns out a beautiful song, audible only to the heart of his lover.

The poetess, Purba Chakraborty, begins with a lovely introduction about the magic of love, and the stirrings of the heart.

Her love for English Literature made her start a YouTube Channel “Learning Literature with Purba” where she teaches literature students. She is also a blogger and content developer.

The heart listens to no one. It hums its own song is the first poetry book by Purba Chakraborty. It consists of 35 shades of love related with different genre including love, longing, romance, fondly reminisces, separation etc.

‘The Heart Listens to No One It hums its own song…’, is not just about poem and the magical hues of words finding an echo with love, romance and language of the heart. Rather, it beautifully explores the crimson clear cloud, osmosis of winter, joy of monsoon and Memories

I loved the way Purba has settled down the ordering of the poems and then describing those orderings by classifying it into various sub-contents.

The poems are divided into 5 categories—

1. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE,
2. LONGING,
3. ROMANCE,
4. FOND REMINISCES,
5. SEPARATION

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Mostly, people say that love is unconditional but when some of their friends have break-ups, they console the friend that the person isn’t worthy of their friend’s love. If love is unconditional, how can someone be worthy or unworthy of it?

 Each poem tells an unique love story. The lovers might part, but love stays forever in the nostalgic corner of the heart, even during trials and tribulations, love teaches us something valuable that makes our lives enriching. The diverse variety in which love was served to the hearts was impeccable.

Purba rightly said that only the mind is capable of making conditions, deals and pacts. The heart knows only to love unconditionally and irrevocably. A heart wants nothing more than to love the other person.

 Anyone and everyone who has ever been in love, will undoubtedly see herself/ himself so much in her poems and would love to drown further in this circuitous woven poetry collection.

The author in this book has tried to portray love story in the form of poetries as in every love story there is a melody. The cover of the book is very symbolic. It itself reveals much about love with an envelope and a heart onto it.

There is so much to read within the lines and between the line.

All the poems are free verse, perfect and leave an imprint on the reader. I would like to quote few lines from the book which touched my heart and soul.

Separation

Love starts with separation and ends with separation. Permanent union is not possible with external beloved.

Beauty: You and your gifts

Separation won’t make me grieve

As long as your gifts are with me;

Delectable memories, occult wisdom

And profound conversations that changed me.

   Perfect Moment

She waited for the right time

Prayed for the perfect moment,

Neither of them visited her;

Those love drenched words

Coasted with her inmost emotions

Were only felt every single minute

They remained unsaid and unheard

Till today……

The language is simple with good selection of words. yet evocative that touches every stroke in your soul and vein. Every emotion travels down and reaches to your heart directly, from the very moment, you start reading the poem.

I recommend The Heart listens to no one: it hums its own song to everyone who has ever been in love.
